A new approach to Buddhism
“I firmly believe that the Buddha needs courageous disciples to continue his teachings and to make the Buddhist tradition alive and vital for young people today. Buddhism is a living reality. Like a tree, the dead branches need to be pruned in order to allow new shoots to grow. The new shoots are the teachings that are appropriate to our time and culture.”
This is a call for a courageous re-engagement with the Buddha’s teaching by the Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hanh.
The FWBO, or Friends of the Western Buddhist Order was founded on just this radical approach to the Buddhist tradition. If you would like to engage in a fresh and invigorating approach to Buddhism, then Blackburn Buddhist Centre is the place for you.
